"Icelandic Primer with Grammar, Notes and Glossary"

There are three conjugations of weak verbs. All those of
the first conjugation have mutated vowels in the pres., and form
their pret. with _?°_ (_d_, _t_): _heyra_ (hear), _heyr?°a_. Those
of the second form their pret. in the same way, but have
unmutated vowels in the pres.: _hafa_ (have) _haf?°a_. Those of
the third form their pret. in _-a?°a_: _kalla_ (call), _kalla?°a_.
