152. The inflectional _?°_ becomes _d_ after long syllables ending
in _l_ or _n_: _sigla_ (sail), _siglda_; _n?™fna_ (name),
_n?™fnda_, _n?™fndr_.
153. _-?°?°_ becomes _dd_: _lei?°a_ (lead), _leidda_.
154. _?°_ after _s_ and _t_ becomes _t_: _reisa_ (raise),
_reista_; _m?“ta_ (meet), _m?“tta_. Also in a few verbs in _l_,
_n_: _m?¦la_ (speak), _m?¦lta_; _sp?™nna_ (buckle), _sp?™nta_.
155. After _nd_ and _pt_ it is dropped: _s?™nda_ (send), _s?™nda_,
_s?™ndr_; _lypta_ (lift), _lypta_.
156. It is preserved in such verbs as the following: _d?“ma_
(judge), _d?“m?°a_; _f?“ra_ (lead), _f?“r?°a_; _h?™r?°a_ (harden),
_h?™r?°a_; _hleypa_ (gallop), _hleyp?°a_.
B. With vowel-change
157. All these verbs have _j_ preceded by a short syllable
(t?™lja), or a long vowel without any cons. after it (d??ja), or
_gg_ (l?™ggja); the _j_ being kept before _a_ and _u_, as in the
pres. ind. of _spyrja_ (ask): _spyr_, _spyrr_, _spyrr_;
_spyrjum_, _spyri?°_, _spyrja_, pres.
